The known records for Argentina belong to a Berg (1884) and Montemayor & Coscarón (2005), Pennington (1920-1921) also provides distributional information of de Coleopterodes liliputiana but does not specify provinces or localities. Scanning electron micrographs of the species are presented in Montemayor & Coscarón (2005) and the main differences beween the two species that constitute the genus are discuss. Also, a neotype for the species is designated. Coleopterodes liliputiana has a very peculiar morphology among the tingids because it is adapted to an underground existence as they feed from the roots of their host plant.
