Material studied by Stål is deposited at Swedish Museum of Natural History (Stål 1860), and it has been identified as type.
According to Carvalho & Dolling 1976 the female Lectotype of Fundanius maculatus Distant 1884, the male Lectotype and one Paralectotype of Fundanius marginatus Distant 1884, and the female Lectotype and two Paralectotypes of Fundanius rubricosus Distant 1884 are deposited at the British Museum of Natural History.
According to Carvalho 1954 the type of Fundanius bicolor Distant 1888 is deposited at Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences and the female type of Capsus alternus Walker 1873 is deposited at the British Museum of Natural History.
This species is a known specialist predator of ensign scales (Wheeler 2001; Ferreira & Henry 2010)
