This is a highly variable species as regards its size and markings (Lent & Wygodzinsky 1979).
This species can be collected in burrows of armadillos, anteaters, pacas, and Coendou, in bat caves, under tree bark close to birds' nests, and on various palms tress (Lent & Wygodzinsky 1979).
