The species is illustrated in Froeschner (1995) and photographed in Maes & Knudson (2016). There is also a key to determine the species of Acanthocheila (Froeschner, 1995). Acanthocheila armigera is frequently mentioned in the literature because it causes damages in plants of the genera Nicotiana , Ouratea , and Pisonia (Stonedahl et al. 1992; Neal & Schaeffer 2000; Guidoti et al, 2015). There is an Hymenoptera Mymaridae, Erythmelus vladimir , which is an egg parasitoid of A. armigera (Triapitsyn & Fidalgo, 2001).
