Known from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua,
Panama, Venezuela, Taiwan (introduced), and USA (Tsai et al. 2013).
Although recorded from Argentina by a few authors, the identification of this species could not be confirmed by the authors; we keep the species in this database but with doubts.

Sapindus saponaria var. drummondii (Hook. & Arn) Benson, Sapindus saponaria var. oahuensis (Hillebr.), Koelreuteria elegans (Seem.), Cardiospermum halicacabum (L.), Cardiospermum corindum (L.), and Serjania brachycarpa Gray (Carrol & Loye 1987).
