Habita ambientes de pastizales de altura entre 2200 a 3200 metros en el sistema montañoso del Nevado, en la Payunia. Descripción, clave para su identificación, aspectos filogenéticos y biogeográficos en Roig-Juñent et al. (2008a y b, 2022) y Domínguez et al. (2016), conservación del nicho (Agrain et al., 2021).
