According to Gaedike (1971) the syntype is deposited at Institut für Pfianzensehutzforschung (BZA). However, Carpintero & Carvalho (1993) established that the type is deposited at Finnish Museum of Natural History, Helsinki, Finland.
This species cause pale, discolored, often blistered areas on orchid leaves, especially cattleyas. Severely damaged plants may loose their leaves, fail to flower, and frequently are killed (Ferreira & Henry 2011)
