Holotype and allotype desposited at Museo de Historia Natural y Antropologia de Rio de Janeiro (Carvalho 1948).
This species has been released in South Africa as a biocontrol agent of Eichhornia crassipes (Coetzee et al.2005; Ajuonu et al. 2009)
