In Drake (1936) is recorded for the first time the species for Argentina in the province of Misiones, later Monte (1938) mentions the species for Chaco, Kormilev (1955) for Salta and Guilbert & Montemayor (2010) for Jujuy provinces. In Drake & Poor (1937) the holotype is illustrated and in Drake & Davis (1960) there is also an illustration of Sphaerocysta inflata . Guidoti & Montemayor (2014) develop a key for the identification of Sphaerocysta species.
