The type material was deposited in the collection of the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro (MNRJ) so it is presumed that it was lost as a result of the fire that occurred in 2018. In the original description there is an illustration of the species (Monte, 1941), and Guilbert & Montemayor (2010) provide an illustration of the fifth nymph. Guilbert & Montemayor (2010) record for the first time S. angulata for Argentina. Guidoti & Montemayor (2014) develop a key for the identification of the species of Sphaerocysta .
