The species of the genus Vatiga are native to the Neotropics and exhibit a decided preference for plants of the genus Manihot ,commonly known as cassava, one of the most important crops in Africa, Central and South America, and Asia (Guidoti et al., 2015). Montemayor et. al. (2015) made a study to evaluate posible areas where Vatiga could expand its distribution as it has already occurred in Madagascar. Froeschner (1993) reviewed the genus, provided a key to species, synonymized some species, and elevated to species status a subspecies, providing illustrations of the species, among them of Vatiga manihotae . Henry et al. (2017) provide a key to recognize the genus Vatiga from other genera of the Tigava complex and characterize the genus. This species is known from its type locality in the province of Corrientes (Drake & Poor, 1939) and later it was recorded for the province of Jujuy by Guilbert & Montemayor (2010).
