The type material was deposited in the collection of the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro (MNRJ) so it is presumed that it was lost as a result of the fire that occurred in 2018. Teleonemia granulosa is only known from its type localities,San Javier and Pindapoy, in Misiones province (Monte, 1942). There is no further information regarding its biology or host plants. All the type material, holotype and five paratypes, were deposited in the Monte collection at the Museo Nacional de Rio de Janeiro and were lost as a consequence of the fire occurred in the museum in the year 2018.
