There is an illustration of the type in Champion (1898) and a photograph in Pennington (1919). Monte in 1941 redescribed the species, discusses the main characters and provides an illustration of a paratype, he also describes L. nigritarsis . Drake & Hambleton (1944) mention that L. steini has been frequently identified as L. nigricornis by Monte, probably, they are referring to L. nigritarsis as there is no L. nigricornis . Monte (1944) provides illustrations of L. steini , L. baccharis y L. nigritarsis and discusses the identity of the three species in answer to Drake & Hambleton´s work. The study where it is recorded L. steini for the province of Misiones is Drake (1936).
Baccharis mesoneura ; Eupatorium intermedium ; Symphaopappus reticulatus .
