There are illustrations of the species in Champion (1898) with the name Monanthia monotropidia . The most mentioned species in the literature of Dictyla is D. monotropidia which has been frequently reported on Laurel as well as on Cotton in Argentina (Fenton 1934) and on orchids from Mexico to the boarder of Texas (Neal & Schaefer 2000; Guidoti et al., 2015) There are some studies regarding the biology of this species (Fallas et al., 2013; Rosas et al., 2008). The known Argentinean distribution of D. monotropidia is documented in Bosq (1937) and Guilbert & Montemayor (2010).
