Observations
guarani Ronderos & Spinelli, 1994: 48 (female). Type locality: Argentina, Misiones, Salto Encantado, 27°05′06″S 54°49′58″W. HT F (MLPA). Distr.- Argentina (Misiones: type locality; Garupá, Barrío Santa Inés, Estancia Santa Inés, 27°31'40.9''S, 55°51'9.4''W. Refs.: Ronderos & Spinelli, 1994: 48; Ayala et al., 2015: 80.

Species belonging to the group eublepharus, it is distinguished by the following combination of characters: coeloconic sensiles in segments 3 and 11-14; thin palp; obvious mesotonal design; posterior tibia comb with four mushrooms; Clearly separated posttestigmatic clear areas; very abundant macrocrriots; brown halterium; Two scallops.

Ayala et. al., describe and illustrate with a modern criterion the male adults and the pupae of Culicoides guarani Ronderos & Spinelli on the basis of material recently collected in the vicinity of the city of Posadas in the province of Misiones, Argentina.
